Philip Hughes 'mentally' frustrated by shuffling of batting order
CRICKET: Australian batsman Phillip Hughes has admitted that the regular change in his batting order, at the ongoing Ashes, has mentally disturbed him. “I don’t mind where I bat but when you do bat one to six, mentally it can be frustrating. At times it can be tough to get your head around the different positions but you’ve just got to get on with it and that’s the bottom line,” Hughes was quoted as saying in the Sydney Morning Herald in London.
The 24-year-old, who made his test debut against South Africa in 2009, said that the opening slot is his first preference, and he is most comfortable in that position. “Opening is something that I’m very comfortable with. I’ve done it for a number of years,” he added. “It is about opportunity as well. If you do get one position you do want to nail it down. I haven’t nailed it down and that’s why they have mixed it up and given people an opportunity. That’s how it has been for this tour,” the southpaw concluded. The Australian team has looked rusty so far at the Ashes, losing the first two tests to the ‘mighty’ English team. The Kangaroos are in search for the right combination, as they need to win all the rest of the matches, to triumph here.
