Zimbabwe vs India, 3rd ODI- India clinch the series with a clinical display
India defeated Zimbabwe in 7 wickets as India gets an unassailable 3-0 lead. While Amit Mishra was the wrecker-in-chief, obtaining 4 wickets for 47 runs, Virat Kohli scored a steady 68 as India chased down the target of 183 without much trouble.
Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to chase a target. The decision turned on to be a good one, as Vinay Kumar removed Sibanda in the 3rd ball of the match. The Zimbabweans couldn’t really actually recovered from it, as Shami Ahmed removed the other opener, Sikander Raza for 1.
Thereafter, Hamiltion Mazakadza and the captain Brendon Taylor stiched together a good partnership, until Unadkat finally got the Zimbabwe captain, with the scoreline reading 67-3. Mazakadza was looking good on forming an another good partnership with Sean Williams, but the Delhi spinner struck in consecutive balls to remove Mazakadza and Chigumbura.
It provided a deadly blow as wickets started to fall off like a pack of cards. While Sean Williams scored a valueable 45, he could not find a single batsman to stay with him at the crease. The lower order couldn’t contribute much as Amit Mishra was too hot to handle. If not for some valueable runs from Tendai Chatara and Brian Vitori, they would not have reached a score of 183, which was below par considering the strong batting line-up India had.
The Indian openers started well, until Rohit Sharma was removed in the 6th over by Chinouya. But Shikar and Virat stiched together a small partnership, with the former playing a more aggressive role. Just when this pair was looking good to finish off the match, Chatara removed Dhawan, with the scoreline reading 67-2. But even the removal of Dhawan was too little, considering the below-par score of 183 to chase.
Virat and Rayadu played out patiently, scoring runs without much of a trouble. Though Rayadu eventually fell to Vitori, there was nothing much the Zimbabweans could do to win the match. Virat Kohli scored a yet-another 50 as he paired up with Raina to finish off the match with 7 wickets to spare and with about 14 overs remaining.
