Dwight Howard to Houston Rockets
Last season, it took at least a month for Dwight Howard to decide where he was headed. He kept the media as well as the fans guessing. When he finally decided to join Los Angeles Lakers, there were predictions that the Bryant-Nash-Howard trio would take over the NBA world. That never happened. Rather, Lakers barely qualified for the playoffs. But that was last season. This season, Howard will be representing the Houston Rockets. This time his decision to join Rockets was quick and took everyone by surprise.
The Western Conference seems different this year. On one side, the coming of Howard to Rockets will definitely strengthen their squad. Howard had a poor season last time around but now and then showed flashes of brilliance that we expect from him. This season, we’ll probably witness more of those flashes. Rockets have a strong squad and along with James Harden and Jeremy Lin, we might see Howard headlining the Western Conference final. On the other hand, Los Angeles Lakers are in a position that they’ve rarely been in: a superstar free agent decided not to play for them. The focus shifts back to Kobe, but even with the Black Mamba in the team, a championship this season seems a very long shot for the Lakers.
My prediction: Rockets’ season will outlast Lakers’.
