The new Premier League strikers to watch out for in 2013/14 season

Last season it was Michu and Christian Benteke who out shined many an established Premier League striker with their goalscoring feat. The new Premier League season gets underway on 17th August and most of the teams have replenished their strikeforce. Let us have a look at the strikers who are going to make their Premier League debut this season.

1) Ricky van Wolfswinkel (Norwich City)
Popularly known as ‘HatRicky’ because of the number of hat-tricks he had scored, the Dutch footballer is a real catch for Norwich City. The former Sporting Lisbon star is a versatile footballer who can play both as a striker or an attacking midfielder though he prefers to play as a striker. The striker definitely has the capability to trouble the best of the defences and is touted to become a star signing.

2) Gary Hooper (Norwich City)
A prolific marksman for his former club Celtic where he had scored 82 goals in 138 matches, he is a striker to watch out for. He has all the potential to take Premier League by storm and together with fellow new signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel may form one of the most potent strikeforce in the Premier League.

3) Alvaro Negredo (Manchester City)
Last season Alvaro Negredo was the highest scoring Spanish player in La Liga with 25 league goals. The burly striker, nicknamed the ‘Beast of Vallecas’, is particularly well suited for the physical nature of the Premier League. The Spanish goalmachine also has a very good technical ability and his strong all-round game may just be the last piece of the jigsaw which will propel Manchester City to Premier League dominance.

4) Stevan Jovetic (Manchester City)
Arguably the most talented signing of this transfer window, the Montenegrin has the skill to light up the Premier League and the resilience to cope with the physicality of English football. Though not the most prolific goal scorer, ‘Jo-Jo’ can play striker, behind a centre-forward, on either flank or midfield. Impeccable technique, finishing, range of passing and fine vision underpin his flexibility.

5) Wilfred Bony (Swansea City)
Swansea paid a club-record fee of £12million for the highly-rated Ivory Coast striker. The 24-year-old has netted a remarkable 31 goals in 30 league games for former club Vitesse, justifying the hefty price tag which Swansea dished out. Possessing a large frame, Bony could frighten Premier League defences and could forge a deadly partnership with fellow Swansea striker Michu giving Swansea an intimidating and well-equipped attack.

6) Roberto Soldado (Tottenham Hotspur)
Tottenham’s record signing Roberto Soldado needs no introduction. A technically astute player, he is one of the most clinical finishers of world football and in each of his three seasons at his previous club Valencia, he has always scored 25 goals and over while netting 30 goals in his last season. With Gareth Bale on the verge of departing for Real Madrid, Roberto Soldado is poised to become the new talisman of Tottenham Hotspur.
