It feels like a dream, says Mohit Sharma

CRICKET: Mohit Sharma made his debut for the national side on Thursday, when he was shortlisted for the playing XI by skipper Virat Kohli, for the fourth ODI of the Celkon Mobile Cup 2013, currently underway in Zimbabwe.

Sharma, was adjudged the Man of the Match, for taking 2-26 in his 10 overs, which included 3 maiden overs and some serious future-prospect sight was seen in him by many. This was only the second time, when an Indian cricketer won the Man of the Match award on debut.

"Yeah, it all feels like a dream. But I have worked on my bowling and it is showing. I am ready to do well in whatever opportunity I am going to get. I was just focusing on keeping things simple and sticking to basics. I did not want to try too many things and it worked for me today," Mohit said in the post-match presentation.

"It is difficult to bowl in Powerplays but we work hard in practice sessions.

"We create match situations during training and bowl a lot and that has helped in matches. And that is why we don’t feel much pressure in matches.

"Playing under Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) and in pressure conditions has taught me a lot. I am just carrying that experience into the international level.

"After coming into the Indian team I have learnt a lot from bowling coach Joe Dawes. It’s just about sticking to the basics and working on your strengths and improving on that.

"As far as learning new things in bowling, I can do that later and not in match situations. Now I want to focus on the next game and doing well in that as well," he signed off.

After a crushing 9-wicket win in the fourth ODI, India have taken a 4-0 lead and the players would be eyeing a whitewash out there, when they head on to play the fifth and final ODI on Staurday in Bulawayo.
