Glenn McGrath's wax statue unveiled in Sydney
CRICKET: Legendary Australian Glenn McGrath was ecstatic to witness his wax statue, built at the Madame Tussauds here in Sydney.
The wax figure displays McGrath about to bowl a delivery, after the local audience voted for the medium-pacer, when asked about which sporting hero they would like to see at the famous visiting place.
"Having been chosen by the Australian public to be immortalized in wax and stand alongside other sporting greats is truly an honour. The whole making-of process of the wax figure has been a real eye opener and I’m very pleased to see they have recreated my bowling stance perfectly," McGrath said in the unveiling programme.
"Australia is a sporting nation and has produced some of the biggest sporting heroes the world has ever seen so we are extremely proud to be able to welcome another Aussie legend to Madame Tussauds Sydney."
Quinn, General Manager of Madame Tussauds, exclaimed - "The Glenn McGrath wax figure was chosen by the Australian public and will no-doubt be a highlight in the attraction for many years to come, especially during the up and coming Ashes."
The 43-year-old ‘Pigeon’, who was one of the most-dangerous bowler of his time, played 250 One Day International’s and 124 test matches in his career and scalped 944 International wickets in his career.
