World Cup Play-off Draw: European Zone
Either Cristiano Ronaldo or Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be involved in next year’s World Cup as Portugal will take on Sweden in the qualifying play-offs. Also, France, who finished second to Spain, will have to defeat Ukraine in order to reach the finals.
Surprise package Iceland must get past Croatia to reach their maiden FIFA World Cup and thus become the smallest country ever to reach the World Cup whereas 2004 Euro Cup winners Greece will take on Romania.
The home-and-away play-off matches are due to be played on 15 November and 19 November respectively.
The four victors of the two-legged ties will join the nine European group winners – Belgium, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, England and Spain in the World Cup in Brazil running from 12 June to 13 July 2014.
The complete fixture is as follows:
Portugal - Sweden
Ukraine - France
Greece - Romania
Iceland - Croatia
