Federer to Face Off against Del Potro in Basel Final
Roger Federer,32, defeated Pospisil in 3 tight sets, to reach the final of the Basel open for a record 10th time. He will face the defending champ, Del-Potro, in a re-match of the previous year’s final.
Young Talent Pospisil had an impressive run in Basel ATP. Though he wasn’t considered to win the match against Federer, but he proved all critics wrong, by giving Federer a run for his money. But eventually, Federer prevailed, and hence became the second man after Guillermo Villas to take part in 10 finals of the same tournament.
Del-Potro has been on form this year, and has made a successful ascend to top 5, after making a comeback from the scratch due to a wrist injury a couple of years ago. Defending champ here, he will go into the final as a favourite. But Federer’s abilities cannot be undermined, that too in front of his home crowd.
While Del Potro will fight out for his 4th trophy of this year, winning the title will ensure Federer’s qualification for the year end World Tour Finals.
One can expect a cracker of a match tomorrow, and it will be unfair to pre-determine who will emerge as the winner
