PREMIER LEAGUE PREVIEW: FULHAM v MANCHESTER UNITED

PREMIER LEAGUE PREVIEW: FULHAM v MANCHESTER UNITED

Fulham and Manchester united both teams are in desperate need of points as they meet in craven cottage. Moyes will be somewhat happy with the performance of his team in last fixtures and will be expecting same standards from his players
Fulham hadn’t won a match against reigning champions from December 2009. They weren’t in great form this season currently sitting 15th in league standings. Martin Jol’s team head into the contest with a loss a against Southampton. Jol admitted that he was puzzled with his side performance after crushing crystal palace just before five days losing to Southampton. They also suffered a shocking defeat to Leicester in league cup. Their attack has been blunt as they scored more than once only in a single instance, that too against crystal palace. Defender Hangeland could return after missing last two games due to injury. Meanwhile, Mathew Briggs is out with groin problem. Darren Bent, Berbatov, Rodallega need to perform for Fulham as goal scoring has become serious issue for Jol’s men. Their defense is also awful giving away nine goals and maintained only two clean sheets. The success stoke had against united defense might tempt Jol to select two strikers alongside Ruiz and Kasami in wide areas. Back four may contain Reither, Senderos, Amoreibeita and Riise.
Moyes achieved his biggest win at united stint against Nowich in midweek. Back to Back wins still elude Moyes in Premier league. The leakiest defense in the top half of the table will be looking to minimize their defensive errors. United hadn’t maintained a clean sheet in a away game so far and it the main thing that concerns Moyes. Van persie, Rooney, Chicharito all netted in their previous games which will make Moyes Happy. Welbeck is still out due to injury. Wingers Nani and Young are yet to find their rhythm and wonder kind januzag will be looking to impress once again. Vidic looks likeliest to partner Evans in central defense along with Rafael and Evra. Moyes might opt for Kagawa if he looks for creativity in midfield. Fellaini still hasn’t got a starting berth since Southampton debacle and he might partner Carrick.
Both teams are defensively weak considering stats this season and only difference that matters is quality of united upfront. Despite their frugal goal return, Fulham will fancy their chances against shaky united defense
