Champions League Match Day 4
The Big Match: Juventus v/s Real Madrid
Real Madrid may have been going through an indifferent form in the La Liga but they are in scintillating form this season in the Champions League having a perfect record in Group B and with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo in breathtaking form having scored 7 goals already. Nine time winners Real Madrid can clinch qualification for the Round of 16 with another victory.
Juventus’ Champions League hopes hang by a thread going into Tuesday’s showdown with Group B leaders Real Madrid. Antonio Conte’s men have just two points from their opening three games and, with second-placed Galatasaray facing rock-bottom Copenhagen, a home defeat to the Spanish giants could leave them five points adrift of a qualification spot for the last 16.
In Group A, Manchester United are away to pointless Real Sociedad, who would love to open their account in their maiden Champions League campaign. Bayer Leverkusen destroyed Shakhtar Donetsk at home with a 4-0 victory and would like to aim for another positive result when they visit Ukraine for the return leg.
In Group C, Paris St. Germain welcome Belgian Champion Anderlecht after dispatching the same opponents 5-0 a fortnight back. Benfica are away against Olympiakos Piraeus in the other game of Group C knowing very well that a win tonight might be sufficient to clinch second place in the group.
After the previous encounter between the two sides was overshadowed by Yaya Toure’s claims that he had been racially abused by the home fans at Moscow, Manchester City welcomes CSKA Moscow tonight to Manchester. The Russian Premier League outfit can ill afford to lose if they are to reach the last 16, with last month’s 1-2 defeat to City their second defeat in three group games. Bayern travel to Viktoria Plzen in the other match in Group D aiming for a similar result to their Match day 3 success of 5-0.
