Glimmer of hope in Federer's defeat.

After intense speculation and scrutiny, R.Federer booked his place in the year ending ATP tour finals. Selected as one of the top 8 in the world, he faced off against the world no 2, N.Djokovic.

Fed-ex, as he is fondly called has an incredible record at the tour finals. Winning 6 times out of 8, the other two being runner up.

He lost the first match, against Djokovic. His second loss to him within a span of 4 days. He lost 2 sets to 1.

A disappointing loss but there was a glimmer of hope in his performance as he displayed that he was close to his best.

Djokovic won the game to keep his chances of being number 1 alive. He won the first set quite easily at 6-4 with fed making mistakes. But the second set is where roger was back to his vintage best. He played his shots well. Broke Djokovic’s serve. He held onto tiebreak, eventually winning the set.

As much as the full packed arena wanted Roger to win, Djokovic had other plans, and really grounded out Federer with a 6-2 set win.

First time since 2008, Federer has not won his opening game at the tour finals. Hopefully he should get back his mojo so as to win another championship.
