A Tribute to Lamps!!!
Lampard already played his 100th game for England against Ukraine in September. But the occasion was celebrated and commemerated against Chile in the recent round of International friendlies. He was presented with a cap to mark the 100th match with the match details stitched on the side. He captained England against Chile as a mark to his service for the country. He was given a golden cap by his dad, Frank Sr. and walked onto the pitch by his two young daughters.
Lampard and Gerrard have often been branded as one of the WORST failures in English national history. They have never clicked well together for the national team, and majority of the public blame has fallen on lampard. This has nothing to do with his quality of play or his exceptional skills that he has. It is mainly because majority of the spectators or rather critics are liverpool supporters, hence going with their club man.
Lampard is the highest goal scoring midfielder for England with a remarkable 29 goals. He is also his club, Chelsea FC’s highest goal scorer. A midfielder being the club’s highest goal scorer is a huge rarity, but lamps has managed to achieve it. He also holds the record for the most consecutive matches in the BPL as an outside player. An astounding 164 appearances, that is well over 4 seasons. A player who has played all the matches for 4 seasons in a row is an exceptional player.
His statistics do not lie. His penalty taking skills are better than most. They mark him to be one of England’s best midfielders, Chelsea’s top 5 players. Beyond the statistics, you see a man who is marked as a role model, both for the english players and the Chelsea squad. He may not play frequently as a fan would like, but with every performance, he makes a strong point to be included in the starting line-up. He was England’s only player who performed decently well against Chile. He hasn’t been playing for Chelsea a lot this season, but he was the lynchpin along with terry who held and helped Mourinho’s Chelsea in his first stint.
He has scored 20 goals for 5 consecutive seasons, a record by any midfielder. He is a goalscoring midfielder who is also a box to box player.
His work rate and passing ability is beyond exceptional. He has the quality in his performances for him to play for another 2 seasons at the games highest level possible, and he proves to be an exceptional role model. He has been a key leader in the Chelsea dressing room.
He in all the right senses is another Mr. Chelsea.
