How Can Fellaini Contribute To The Red Devils Cause?

Manchester United signed Everton and Belgium midfielder Marouane Fellaini for £27.5 late on transfer deadline day to put an end to an agonizing transfer window for newly appointed manager, David Moyes who failed to bring in any other big names including the much talked about Leighton Baines from his former club, Everton.
Fellaini has not had a very promising start to his Old Trafford career. He looked sluggish and his lack of pace has been exposed alongside Michael Carrick and the partnership has not just been clicking at the moment. Fellaini may be still struggling to find his feet at United but given the chance he will repay every penny that Moyes has spent on him.
He is obviously a big, physical player who makes his presence felt in the penalty area, and his height means he naturally wins headers. He can play higher up, behind the striker or as a defensive or holding midfielder. He’s comfortable in any position in the middle of the field. But what Fellaini brings to United is goals. He scored 11 goals in the Premier League last season for Everton and United haven’t had a central midfielder getting into double figures in the league since Paul Scholes in the 2004-05 season. Equally important, his aerial ability affords Rio Ferdinand and friends added protection.
Moreover, his international credentials are impressive. At 25 years old, he has already played almost 50 times for Belgium, a team who boast an enviable number of fine central midfielders like Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne.
With Fellaini holding central midfield alongside Michael Carrick, United will be free to base their gameplan around Moyes’s favoured 4-4-2 system in which Wayne Rooney can be regularly used in an attacking partnership with Robin van Persie. The Belgian is strong and powerful enough to make the two-strikers-plus-two-wingers equation work.
Fellaini has already survived one major transition in his career to become a resounding success at Everton after a sticky start under the stewardship of Moyes. Trust the Chosen One to bring the best out of Fellaini once again at United.
