All things F1 2013. Who am I kidding, "All things F1 2013/Vettel"!!!!

All things F1 2013. Who am I kidding, "All things F1 2013/Vettel"!!!!

As the title suggest on a lighter note, F1 this year has been mainly one man’s home, Sebastian Vettel. The young German hailed as the closest thing there is to another F1 legend Michael Schumacher went past his countrymen’s record of consecutive wins in a season, a staggering 8 wins!!! Vettel hasnt finished below 1st position since August, 3 months back. He hopes to equal another of Michael’s record at Brazil, incidentally the last race before the new regulations come into place. He is on 12 wins this season, needing one more to equal the record.

Schumacher’s old teammate at Ferrari, Felipe Massa quits Ferrari after a very long association. This is going to be Massa’ s home race, and everyone at Ferrari and in Brazil hope that he would go out with a bang. Felipe will join Williams for the new season. He came close to winning his only championship in 2008, where he undeservedly lost at Brazil, overtaken by Hamilton, eventual champion, in the dying few milli-seconds of the season.

With the new regulations coming into force next season onwards, it is going to become very interesting as to which team can get off the blocks the quickest, and can adjust according to the changes incorporated.

The Brazlian race also marks the end of Webber’s career. The australian has won 9 races and has been on podium for 41 times. 9 wins doesnt do justice to his skill set and determination and will to race on and on. He has been overshadowed by Schumacher, Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton. There was huge controversy at the start of the season between Seb and Mark regarding team orders. Seb overtook Mark and won the Malaysian Grand Prix despite team orders clearly asking both drivers to cool down and drive back the car at a lesser pace since they were far far far ahead. Seb powered on and took over a hapless Webber.

This race will witness Webber and Massa giving it their all and proving their critics wrong. Vettel will try once more to etch his name into the book of champions. A bit of rain and this race shall be an excellent ending to a season dominated by Vettel and his ‘Hungry Heidi’.

Cheers
