Question.

Aguero, Negredo and Manchester City

Aguero, Negredo and Manchester City

A month to Christmas break in the EPL and the Champions leagues groups are being decided, have Manchester City finally found a striking duo that will finally give them the winning edge on these competitions. It has been 5 years since the Abu Dhabi group took control over City and have shuffled the forward line from Adebayor, Robinho, Santa Cruz and Tevez to name a view.
This season is looking different. Sergio Aguerro, former Atletico Madrid and Argentinian forward has finally found his feet at City scoring some great goals. City’s latest signing Alvaro Negredo, the Spanish striker comes from Sevilla. Together the two have been doing good this season.
Aguero has found the back of the net eight times in ten Premier League games and five times in four Champions League matches, while Negredo has scored four times in the Premier League and another four occasions in the Champions League.
So what makes them click? Both are not in the D strikers. They are not goal poachers. You will find them in one- on-one situation with the defence often. This is when they help each other out. So you will see one slipping a ball to the other to score.
Other thing that works for them would be the Spain connection. Both played for Spanish clubs for a long time. The short passing and dribbling game that they have played in both club and country helps them work together.
Aguero is strongly built and is used to play along with a second striker that was Diego Forlan at his time in Atletico. The duo had taken Atletico to successes in Spain and Europe.  This experience also helps him to work with Negredo. Aguerro looks as the one proving the assists to the outright striker that is Negredo.
The season is still not half way, and time will tell whether this partnership will be something like Rooney and Van Persie or Yorke and Cole.
