CR7 has edged past Messi towards winning the Ballon d’Or !!!

For the last four years the Ballon d’Or has been won by Barcelona’s Argentine ace Lionel Messi but a slight drop in form as well as some untimely injuries has thrown the door wide open for his rivals-leading among whom is Real Madrid’s Portuguese hitman, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Let us look at the reasons as to why Ronaldo has done enough to win the Ballon d’Or this time round:
• The FIFA Ballon D’Or is an award given to an individual player, not a team. It goes without saying that Bayern Munich was the best European team in 2013, but there was no better player than CR7 in 2013.
• Since the start of 2013, Ronaldo has scored more than Ribery and Messi put together. Since the start of this season alone, CR7 has scored eight more than Ribery has since the start of the season before.
• CR7 was too hot to deal for Sweden in Stockholm in the World Cup playoff match and even a supercharged Zlatan Ibrahimovic brace was not enough for the Swed’s to book a place in the finals.
• The Madrid man has single-handedly carried his otherwise average national side to Brazil. Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance in Sweden will no doubt be looked back upon as one of his all-time greatest games.
Now that Fifa has extended the previously closed voting period to the end of the month – and will allow those who have already submitted their choices to alter them, will definitely play into Ronaldo’s hands. In the current scenario, he is perfectly placed to streak away from Lionel Messi’s challenge for the Ballon d’Or, especially now with the Argentinian sidelined with injury until 2014.
