India vs West Indies 3rd ODI: Shikhar Dhawan's century propels India to series victory

Shikhar Dhawan scored his 5th century of this year and Yuvraj Singh returned to form as India easily defeated West Indies by 5 wickets in the 3rd and final ODI in Kanpur thereby clinching the ODI series 2-1.

Put into bat first, West Indies lost opener Johnson Charles cheaply but Kieran Powell and Marlon Samuels then added an invaluable 117 runs for the 2nd wicket before R.Ashwin scalped both the batsmen. West Indies lost the way in the middle overs but Darren Bravo and Darren Sammy added an unbeaten 67 runs for the sixth wicket which propelled the score to a competitive 263 runs. Marlon Samuels top scored with 71 runs while Kieran Powell and Darren Bravo chipped in with 70 and 51 runs respectively. For the Indians R. Ashwin took two wickets.

Chasing 264, India lost Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early, but Shikhar Dhawan was at his trademark best and along with out of form Yuvraj Singh build the innings. They added 129 runs for the third wicket before Yuvraj Singh was out for 55 runs. Meanwhile Shikhar Dhawan scored his 5th century of the year and scored 119 runs from just 95 deliveries before he was caught and bowled by Dwayne Bravo. India scored the remaining runs without much ado and reachd the target in 46.1 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan was declared the Man of the Match while Virat Kohli was won the Man of the Series award.
