LUKAKU: THE FLYING BELGIAN
Lukaku has been a sensation since he signed for Chelsea. A £17million move to Chelsea at the age of 18 raised eyebrows for many. He is one of those few teenagers who enjoys tagline of FUTURE LEGEND. It is remarkable to know that one of the Europe’s most recognizable young talent is still at school. Considering his current performances for Everton, no doubt Mourinho will be hanging his head down for loaning him.
Since signing his professional contract with Anderlecht in 2009, Lukaku has been phenomenal. He became top scorer of Belgian league at the age of just 16. Idolizing Chelsea legend Drogba, Lukaku is known for his strength and fierce strikes. His dreamed to play for Chelsea and finally achieved it in 2011 when Chelsea signed him for £17million. But life at Stamford Bridge is never easy when you have players like Drogba and Torres as first choice players. Emotional Lukaku refused to hold Champions league trophy as he didn’t feel like a winner. He played only 12 games for Chelsea. Then he was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion.
Lukaku showed what he can do when he is given an opportunity netting 17 times for West Brom. While Torres and other strikers at Chelsea are struggling, Lukaku showed the mistake Chelsea had done by loaning him with his sensational strikes. Spoiling Sir Alex Ferguson’s 1500th match with a perfect hat trick, he became an ultimate hero. Many Chelsea fans thought he would be playing for Chelsea following his performances at West Brom.
But missing a crucial penalty in UEFA super cup turned the things for Lukaku. Mourinho, for unknown reasons, opted to loan out Lukaku. Everton accepted him gleefully and he has been n sublime form since then. While his fellow strikers at Chelsea are struggling to score, Lukaku already has 8 goals this season. With height of 1.94mts Lukaku is excellent in air winning headers and his strength just like his idol, Drogba, is phenomenal. An imposing physical specimen, Lukaku can dribble, win headers, out power defenders with his strength. More importantly his sublime finish makes him one of the best strikers in Europe.
Lukaku is no doubt is best striker in Europe of his generation. Lukaku simply resembles Drogba with his style of play and personality. There may be many young talents of his age but no player is as mature as Lukaku. There are wingers, midfielders, defenders of his age who already settled at their respective clubs. But its sad to see a player like Lukaku being loaned out though he scored 70 goals at top in Belgium and English leagues. He deserves to play for a club like Chelsea.
