Lebron James catching up on the MVP race
He has 2 championships, 2 regular season MVP, 2 playoffs MVP and an Olympic Gold. Lebron James is the best basketball player on the planet right now. No arguments on that. He can play offense and defense on any position that is required of him and can single handedly destroy teams. The MVP award is given every year to the person who means most to his team. And this season started off with Chris Paul rightly on top of the ladder. Buzzer beaters, clutch shots and leadership – CP3 has done it all for the LA Clippers. He is averaging 19 points and over 12 assists per game.
But Lebron James is coming. After a rather slow start to the season, by his standards, the King has been steadily increasing his numbers. In the month of November, he has had 11 matches of 25 or above points. His assists and rebounds averages are also increasing. Also, he is shooting the ball better than last year, higher FG%, FT% and 3pt% (Yes, it’s SCARY). With Derrick Rose out for the rest of season, only Indiana Pacers seem to be a team that can put up any kind of resistance to the reigning champions, Miami Heat.
Other notable mentions :
1. Paul George – has transformed to a budding player to Indiana’s superstar. And he has taken the responsibility well. Has increased his numbers in almost all the fields and has led the Pacers to the best W-L record right now.
2. Kevin Durant – arguably the best pure scorer now, he is still improving and has the capability to someday challenge James. With the return of Russel Westbrook, the Oklahoma City Thunders stand a good chance of coming out of the West.
3. Tony Parker – as usual, quietly leading his team with consistency and smart plays.
Whatever happens and whoever wins the MVP race, the season promises to bring exciting plays and memorable moments.
