English Premier League Round-up: Arsenal marches on, Chelsea keeps pressure and Liverpool stumbles
Arsenal maintained their red hot form in the Premier League with a brilliant 3-0 victory away at Cardiff City courtesy a brace from former Cardiff youth team player Aaron Ramsey. Arsenal have accumulated 31 points from 13 games and maintain their 4 point lead at the top of the table. Chelsea climbed up to the 2nd spot following their 3-1 win over Southampton at home on Sunday. Chelsea were stunned by a 12th second opener by Jay Rodriguez but bounced back strongly in the 2nd half to dismantle the Southampton rear guard. But Liverpool were stunned by newly promoted Hull City 3-1 thereby falling to the 4th place and 7 points behind Arsenal.
Manchester City continued their irrepressible form at home defeating Swansea City by 3-0 score line and thereby climbing up to the 3rd place while their city rivals Manchester United could only muster a 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester United and Tottenham occupy the 8th and 9th position respectively. Everton destroyed Stoke City 4-0 and now are in the 5th place. Newcastle United’s good run of form took them to the 6th place as they defeated West Bromwich by two goals to one.
Martin Jol became the latest manager to get the axe after his Fulham team succumbed to another defeat to West Ham United and thereby falling into the relegation zone. In other matches, Norwich City got an invaluable 1-0 victory over bottom team Crystal Palace to go further away from the relegation zone while Aston Villa and Sunderland played out a goalless draw.
