English Premier League Match Day 15: Arsenal held at home, Chelsea shocked by Stoke and Manchester United again stumbles at home
Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League to five points after they were held to an entertaining 1-1 draw by Everton at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal have 35 points from 15 games while Everton continued their good form and are in the 5th position with 28 points.
Meanwhile, defending champions Manchester United’s title defence continued to crumble following their second successive home defeat for the first time since 2002. David Moyes’ team struggle continued as they succumbed to a shock 1-0 defeat to high flying Newcastle United. Manchester United now occupy a lowly 9th position as they look more likely to battle for a top four place than fighting for the championship this season.
Liverpool climbed up to the 2nd position on 30 points following their 4-1 win over West Ham United and their main rivals Chelsea and Manchester City dropping points elsewhere. Chelsea were shocked at Stoke City by 3-2 scoreline while Manchester City could only draw 1-1 against Southampton. Chelsea are also on 30 points but occupy the 3rd place due to inferior goal difference while Man City are on 29 points.
Tottenham Hotspur continued their mini revival following a tricky 2-1 win away at basement team Sunderland. Crystal Palace got another invaluable win at home over fellow newcomers Cardiff City to move further away from the bottom team Sunderland. They won 2-0. Meanwhile, Norwich City won 2-0 away at West Bromwich Albion to go further away from the relegation zone. Fulham also got a priceless 2-0 win over Aston Villa which will no doubt lift the beleaguered team.
