Can Bayern Munich do the double –treble?
Bayern has shaped up to be the dominant football team in Europe. Bayern ended the 2012-2013 season by winning the treble. The arrival of Pep Guardiola, Thiago Alcantara and gifted German midfielder Mario Goetze has strengthened the squad. The Bavarian giants also have Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben pacing up and down their flanks.
After spending 50 Million Euros, Bayern is aiming for a Quintiple. They plan on winning the treble again and also want to win the European Super Cup and the club World Cup. Bayern is currently the only team in the Champions League with a flawless record. Domestically Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are the closest rivals. Despite their intense rivalry, Borussia Dortmund CEO Aki Watzke admitted Bayern Munich were the best team in Europe.
Guardiola has smoothly taken over the reins at Bayern. He has maintained a 100 percent record in all competition. Even though Guardiola credits Jupp Heynckes for the current form of the squad, Pep has managed to maintain the winning momentum.
Bayern is going through a bit of an injury crisis. Claudio Pizarro, Franck Ribery Philipp Lahm and Xherdan Shaqiri have been injured lately. But their recovery will help Guardiola win the next treble.
