Group A:
Manchester United clinched the first place and relieved some pressure of David Moyes as they secured a narrow 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk. The defeat proved costly for Shakhtar as Bayer Leverkusen took the 2nd place following their 1-0 win away at Real Sociedad.

Qualified team: 1. Manchester United, 2. Bayer Leverkusen

Group B:
Already qualified Real Madrid won 2-0 at FC Copenhagen courtesy goals from Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo played for the first time since his injury on 23rd November but this did not prevent him from continuing his red hot scoring form. He has scored 9 goals in the Group stage thereby creating a new record in the process.

The other game between Galatasaray and Juventus was postponed to Wednesday because of heavy snowfall in Istanbul.

Group C:
Benfica defeated Paris St Germain 2-1 but it was not enough to take them to the qualifying stage as Olympiakos defeated 8-man Anderlecht 3-1 to take the second spot behind PSG. Benfica will now play in the Europa League.

Group D:
Manchester City produced a memorable performance to overcome a 2-0 deficit to defeat defending champions Bayern Munich by 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at Munich. Both the team finished on 15 points but Bayern Munich took the first place courtesy their better head-to-head record over Manchester City. Viktoria Plzen won 2-1 over CSKA Moscow thereby clinching the 3rd place and a spot in the Europa League.
