English Premier League Roundup: Its goals galore for Liverpool and Manchester City as Tottenham and Arsenal crumbles

Manchester City produced an attacking master class as they outclassed league leaders Arsenal 6-3 in an entertaining match between the two heavyweights of English football. Arsenal have been in imperious form this season but everything went wrong for them as they could not put up a fight against their rampant hosts. Arsenal remain at the top of the table with 35 points from 16 games but their lead now reduced to 2 points while Manchester City are in 4th place further three points behind.

If that was not enough, Liverpool produced arguably their best performance of this season as condemned Tottenham Hotspur to their heaviest home defeat in the Premier League. Liverpool made the mockery of the absence of their two key players Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge as stand-in captain Luis Suarez scored two and assisted another in their 5-0 win. This win keeps them in the 2nd place on 33 points. Chelsea also maintained the pressure at the top with a nervy 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. Jose Mourinho’s men are in the 3rd place also on 33 points but due to inferior goal difference to Liverpool.

In the other games, Everton continued their dream run with a 4-1 win over hapless Fulham which keeps them in the 5th spot while Newcastle are in 6th position following their 1-1 draw against 9th placed Southampton. West Ham United and Sunderland played out a 0-0 draw which keeps Sunderland firmly at the foot of the table while Stoke City and Hull City also played out a goalless draw. Cardiff won 1-0 against West Bromwich and this defeat cost West Bromwich boss Steve Clarke his job.

In Sunday’s fixtures, Norwich City played out a 1-1 draw against Swansea City while defending champions Manchester United ended their 4 match winless streak with a 3-0 win at Aston Villa courtesy two goals from Danny Welbeck.
