South Africa vs India 2nd test : SA looks to gift King Kallis a perfect farewell gift
After Indian heroics on day 1, 3 days later, it seems as if SA will be raring to give their greatest cricketer a grand farewell.
SA, after reducing the deficit to 50 odd runs yesterday, came out determined today morning to get a result. Kallis looked as solid as ever, whereas Indian Bowlers were made to toil hard. In a unresponsive pitch, only Jadeja looked anywhere near to trouble the batsmen.
Meanwhile, Kallis finally got his 45th century soon enough, and became on of the selected few to score a century in his last test. Kallis was caught by Dhoni in 115, and is now currently the third highest run-getter in test cricket history. Meanwhile, an explosive cameo from Robin Peterson, along with a useful knock from Du Plessis drove SA to 500, with a lead of 166 runs.
The Indian openers were expected to give a good start, but Vijay fell soon to Philander. Pujara looked as solid as ever, whereas Dhawan played a peculiarly slow innings, with the intent to save the match. Finally, India ended the day with 68 on board for the loss of 2 wickets, with both Kohli and Pujara looking solid.
India’s fate will solely depend on the batsmen’s performance. Whereas SA would like to have a small total to chase and give Kallis a perfect farewell. And over top of that, with rain looming large, draw is the most possible result.
