Big Bash 2013-14: Hodge hammers Sydney Thunder
It was indeed because of Brad Hodge’s hard fought effort which resulted in 64 runs, making Melbourne Stars to cloud nine as they completely dethroned Sydney Thunder. That match lead to the 16th straight loss for Sydney at their home ground. As a result of this victory, Melbourne Stars reached on the top of the points tally.
Dilshan succumbed to Hastings’ lengthy delivery which was pitched on the off stump. Daniel Hughes managed to provide a stand to Michael Hussey but Hastings came strongly to take the wicket of Hughes while the batsman came down the track to hit the ball but only to be caught.
With Eion Morgan, Hussey seemed to settle into a good partnership. In the 13 over Morgan tried to pull away a short pitch ball that couldn’t clear Maxwell.
Kurtis Patterson hit a maxium over long on and followed it with yet another one in the next over. With the same consistency, Hussey hit another six. It was almost seeming like Sydney was on a high until Patterson fell to a short pitch ball. Hussey hit back to back boundaries on the next two deliveries.
Next over looked tight as just few runs came. off Mike Hussey was dismissed on 66. Jason Floors scored much runs in few balls and Sydney ended their innings at 155/6.
Luke Wright scored the first run for Melbourne Stars until he fell in 3rd over. Feldman was a way expensive. Gurinder Sandhu mixed up some unpredictable balls. The wicketkeeper batsman Wade looked to take Melbourne to victory but Sandhu got him in 14th over. Brad Hodge lit up the next over with his hit in the form of a boundary and back to back sixes. Further Hodge increased his explosion with a couple of boundaries and a six in the next over. Following that, Dirk Nannes bowled a tight over giving away 4. David Hussey made sure that Melbourne Stars reach the top after they won by 7 wickets with 5 balls to spare.
