West Indies trash New Zealand by 203 runs, tie the series 2-2
West Indies managed to savage some pride as they defeated New Zealand by 203 runs, their largest margin of victory over any test playing nation. WI captain Dwayne Bravo was the chief architect behind their revivial, as he scored an aggressive century, and following it with a wicket with a ball and two catches.
West Indies got off to an aggressive start, after Keiron Powell went beserk. He put on 95 for the first partnership with Johnson Charles, 74 off his bat. After the openers were removed in quick succession, NZ looked to claw back into the game. WI were in a spot of bother, after Corey Anderson removed Lendl Simmons, with the scoreline readin 143 for 3. Then the captain joined Kirk Edwards at the middle.
Both of them stitched together an amazing 211 run partnership, which drove WI to a good score of 363 or the loss of 4 wickets. While Edwards remained not out for 123, Dwayne Bravo scored 106.
NZ were expected to give a good fight to this stern total. But no one really got going. While Holder and Andre Russel removed the top order, the middle order batsmen could not face the music of Nikita Miller. All the batsmen got starts but no one could convert it into a big one. Eventually they were bowled out for 160, with Corey Anderson top scoring with 29.
Dwayne Bravo was named the man of the match for his excellent all round perormance. With this, the West Indies have ended their disappointing tour with a high, whereas NZ would be disappointed not to go for the kill in the ODIs too.
