“DEFENCE IS SUPERIOR THAN OFFENCE”:-
The above quote has become the ideology of the ‘special one’; yes we are talking about Jose Mourinho and his footballing tactics. On 28th of January there was a record signing by Manchester United FC, after constant negotiation the club eventually lured JUAN MATA from Chelsea FC managed by Mourinho at a fee of around 37.1 million Euros.
Juan Manuel Mata Garcia , commonly known as Juan Mata is a Spanish footballer and one of the shimmering properties in European football, a graduate of Real Madrid youth academy, Mata eventually went to Valencia FC and on his debut season was voted the ‘best young player’. He became integral part of the club’s midfield making over 174 appearances in the duration of four seasons. After series of dazzling performances he was under the radar of Chelsea FC joining them at a fee of around 28 million Euros. He became one of the most adored, fancied and creative player in EPL and was voted the club’s player of the year award consecutively for two seasons. Under Mata Chelsea won UEFA Champions league, UEFA Europa league, and the FA CUP.
The last few days have surely put most Chelsea fans through emotional turmoil. The reasons behind the departure were quite evident. No player of such quality wants to play second fiddle, especially with a World Cup place to fight for. Unfortunately, every book has its last chapter and sadly this was Juan Mata’s last for Chelsea.
One really has to ponder then why was he sold by Mourinho that too, to a direct rival? Mata had taken his move to the periphery at Chelsea this season with as much dignity as can be reasonably expected from a world-class performer, who was suddenly no longer the automatic choice. Under José Mourinho, Mata fell behind Oscar in the pecking order as the team’s first-choice playmaker. Mourinho cited Mata’s lack of defensive work as the main reason behind the player’s frequent omission. Furthermore, recently Jose Mourinho has declared that Juan Mata did not work hard enough to play for Chelsea – and said that the midfielder could no longer rely on the fact that he was the club’s player of the year for the past two seasons.
Mata struggled to secure a regular first-team place under Mourinho as he had started just 11 of Chelsea’s 22 Premier League matches, and overall made just 18 appearances for Chelsea. Mata scored 33 goals and provided 58 assists in 135 appearances over two-and-a-half seasons with Chelsea. Manchester United are a fantastic team with an exceptional history and countless legends and it leaves me no doubt that Mata has picked the right choice on from a player’s perspective and may he be able to showcase his potential to the utmost. But there can be more to the speculation that catches the eyes.
According to me there are two logics behind selling Mata. If we observe keenly, in this year premier league Chelsea are strong contenders to win the premier league and by selling Mata to United they have made life difficult for the other top clubs like Manchester City , Arsenal and Liverpool FC, since they still have to face United. I guess everyone remember how MESUT OZIL created his effect on the football field and lifted the morale of his team Arsenal FC. The same can be expected from MATA to act as a driving force for Manchester United.
2ND logic is that Chelsea FC are completely banking on their midfield to score goals as their strikers comprising of Samuel Eto, Fernando Torres, Demba Ba are completely off beat this season. So, by doing business with United, they may opt for a new striker.
Lastly, on behalf of Chelsea fans around the world, I would like say, ‘Thank You Juan Mata’ for everything that you have done for this club

I think the main reason to sell Mata to united at this point is to make life hard for arsenal, man city and liverpool. And Mata is a worldclass playmaker and making him sit on the sidelines does not justify his superb talent and anyway Rooney will never be sold to any preimer league rivals as long as Ferguson is on the board........nice article Hemant
but nice prescribed article..good going
jose has his way of doing ..he prefers the attackers to come down and help out the defenders..and juan mata was not fitting in his scheme of things..so it was inevitable.but short term strategy of mourinho of selling mata directly to a rival club shows how cunning one can get..absolute sheer presence of mind..well time will tell if mata can be that driving force.for us .more importantly for mata he can start a match.treat to watch him..secondly thanks to chelsea fans for reacting properly and not abusing
