The candidates for the highest bid in this IPL auction

It’s that time of the year again, when all eyes would be on the high performing cricketers in the recent times. The IPL Auction 2014 is scheduled to be on 12th and 13th of February, 2014 and this time, it gets even more exciting, with as many as 219 capped players and 295 uncapped players available for the procedure. 30 of them have attracted the highest base price of Rs.20 million (US$ 320,000 approx.) and this list includes big names of the cricketing world like Brett Lee, Michael Hussey, Virender Sehwag, Kevin Pietersen, and many more.
With the inclusion of various new and talented players this season, things are getting tougher and tougher for the managements of the 8 franchises for selecting the best players for their respective teams. Among this large pool of players available for auction, a few of them have the potential to attract the highest bid for this season. Some of these players are:

1.) Kevin Pietersen: One of the most preferred candidates for most of the teams would be Kevin Pietersen. The sacking of the England Batsman by the English Cricket Board last week might just turn out to be in his favour as Pietersen will surely be available for the whole tournament. The availability of Pietersen for the whole tournament would definitely increase the chances of the team having him in its batting line-up in IPL 2014.

2.) Corey Anderson: This 23 year old Batsman from New Zealand has been in the news recently for his blistering performances against West Indies as well as India. The youngster is known for breaking a 17 year old record of the fastest ODI Ton by Shahid Afridi (a century off 37 balls), and Anderson bettered it by 1 ball (by reaching his century in merely 36 balls). Anderson can pose an equal threat with the ball as well, and this was witnessed in the ODI Series against India, where Anderson played an important role in New Zealand’s 4-0 victory over India. This young lad is one of the best-suited players for T20s right now.

3.) Mitchell Johnson: Hero of the recently concluded Ashes Series, the fierce-looking Mitchell Johnson has just redefined the terms - Pace, Bounce and Fear. With his deliveries clocking over 150 kmph on the Australian Pitches, the Queenslander is expected to extract equal amount of pace and bounce from the Indian Pitches as well. His Batting contributions can never be over-looked, as he has always played a handy role in driving his team out of the trouble whenever the team needed him. Johnson can be a devastating bowler in T20s as well, and his power hitting can just earn him the highest bid for this year’s Auction.

Although there are many other good players in the pool, but these three players could be the best candidates to attract the highest bid, and IPL 2014 auction promises to be an exciting event to deliver the much awaited results of the transfers.

@Shashi: Yuvi is a good buy, but i guess due to his current form, the bidding price wont be too high. So is the case with Sehwag also. But yeah, amongst Indians, these two will attract more attention.
