It’s better to end a beautiful relationship before it hurts. Breakup of Nemanja Vidic with Manchester United
Manchester United is one of the most admired football club of the world. Almost every footballer dreams to be a part of the club at least once in his carrier. But recently the club is in its darkest days. Apparently from being the champions of BPL from the last season (2012-13) they are currently placed 7th in the league table. It seems very hard for Manchester United to even break into the top 4 where it can book a place in the Champions league. In such a difficult situation a shocking news was broken last week where Nemanja Vidic who is one of the senior and currently the captain of the club has decided to move out of the club by the end of season. This was like rubbing the salt on the wound to the administration, players and more importantly to millions of fans all across the world.
Nemanja Vidic joined the club in 2005-06 after playing two seasons for Spartak Moscow. Sir Alex Ferguson who was then manager and in charge of the Manchester United football club was impressed and signed him for a fee of 7 million euros. Vidic along with Rio Ferdinand formed a strong centre back for Manchester United which in those days was considered as one of the best defence in Europe. With this great performances he was awarded the Captaincy of the team which he performed successfully and was able to win 5 league titles, 1 UEFA Champions league, The FIFA World Club and 3 League cup in his span at United. But with the team in a disappointing position in the league for the current season he feels that this could be the best time for him to move out of the club. He is 32 now with his age factor back of his mind this could be his last chance to get a big contract and a fat salary. If he extends the contract with Manchester United he might end up getting a lower salary. This could be one of the reason why Vidic has decided and feels that this could be the best that he could do to himself and for the club.
Unlike Vidic it could be one of the hardest time in clubs history for United. The team is not in a good form in the entire season with the new manager David Moyes aboard the team is still in the building stage with players trying to adjust the training methodology of the new coach more than that the legacy of Sir Alex Ferguson which he has left behind is proving very difficult for the current manager to match it. With all these difficulties the contract of the seniors like Ferdinand is expiring by the end of this season with the sudden news of Vidic moving out of the club it would be very difficult for the club. But this decision gives an opportunity for the club itself to bring in new players and change the entire atmosphere of the club which could end up in better performance and lead to better result in the near future. It could be very easy even for David Moyes to convince and implement his strategies for the new team and get results out of it.
In any case a 9 year long relationship has come to an end. We just hope to see a new positive chapter being unfolded for United in the upcoming season.
