Life after Vidic? It’s there…

Nemanja Vidic the famous Serbian footballer has confirmed his decision that he will quit Manchester United at the end of this season. The Serbian who has played for the club for more than eight years and has been a part of the history created by the club by winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League, three League Cups and one Club World Cup, decided to end his show at the Old Trafford after a mutual decision with David Moyes & seek a fresh challenge when his contract expires in the summer. With Rio Ferdinand virtually certain to be leaving Old Trafford as well, it means Moyes must plan for life without the two men who have been the cornerstone of the Red Devils’ defense for almost a decade.
The situation at Manchester United may not look good at this time but the club might have its own action plan in line to break free from the current scenario. With two of the most experienced players on their side departing, there is certainly a void created in United’s defense. To fill this void David Moyes already has a strong and experienced army of Jonny Evans, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling with a combined total of 384 United appearances to call upon, in addition to 49 international caps and six league titles. In addition to these players David Moyes has ordered his scouts to prepare detailed reports on ten center-backs – with Celtic’s Virgil van Dijk and Marseille star Nicolas N’Koulou both figuring prominently. Though there can be problems for the newbie’s in the team to cope up with the game of the strikers in the squad, a little bit of experience in the defense with some amazing talent and few matches to adjust can surely make the team balanced again.
Also after Vidic’s exit, ManU would be on a lookout for a new captain to steer its ship from turmoil. In this scenario the possibilities are high that Wayne Rooney can be made the new captain if he extends the contract. So if all goes well ManU will have a great frontline comprising of Rooney, Mata, Januzaj and Van Persie which would trouble most defenses. However there are speculations about the weakening of the midfield line along with defense after departure of Vidic but this might not last for a long time. With the infusion of fresh blood in the squad under the guidance of experienced players, ManU will surely be able to develop a strong midfield also along with its defense thus improving the overall efficiency of the team. The moves taken by David Moyes are well thought of with a long term goal to develop a squad comprising of young players and training them under the experienced senior players in the team before they depart from the club and thus build a squad on the same values of the club. Finally, we just need to keep calm and believe in the fact that ManU will win not immediately but definitely.
