Any team playing at home against India looks like a world class team
Team India’s feeble performances with the bat and ball on foreign soil have been the most talked about topics recently. Whatever effort is put in by the players, the opponent team just seems to come up with something better. The fans watching the match have started thinking that any team playing at home against India seems to be a world class team. After suffering losses of 4-0 each in England and Australia and a 1-0 loss in South Africa, the Indian Cricket Team has been pushed to the back foot in Test Cricket. The situation is quite similar in ODIs as well, with the Indian Team’s only good performance at foreign soil coming in ICC Champion’s Trophy 2013 in England and the Tri-Series in West Indies in 2013. The team has been struggling to make an impact in the shorter format as well, and have suffered 2-0 and 4-0 losses against South Africa and New Zealand recently.
Though South Africa and New Zealand, both are very good teams, but India’s performance has been so ordinary, that it makes these teams look like invincible. The Batsmen have been poor in the execution of their shots, and equally poor has been the bowling. Comparing this effort with the effort put in by the likes of Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Corey Anderson, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, etc., Team India is bound to look like an ordinary side.
The way Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers batted to chase 458 runs against India in the first test at Johannesburg shows a lot of commitment issues within the Indian Bowlers, which could have led to loss in that test as well. The batting has also been disappointing, as only a few batsmen have been able to deliver results on the foreign pitches, and quite obviously, Virat Kohli is the name that stays at the top among those few batsmen.
The Current New Zealand tour has not fetched good results to the Indian Team in the ODIs, and India has already lost a test match as well. But the Team India’s bowling and batting have been pretty good in the test series, with Ishant Sharma bowling some unbelievable deliveries and Shikhar Dhawan performing in the style he is known for. With the second test still going on, and India in complete control of the match, the team is expected to register a much awaited win, and get back to the winning ways. Its high time that India starts playing like a World Class Team on foreign land.
