UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Man City faces Barca in blockbuster showdown
The UEFA Champions League resumes tonight as the knockout stage of the premier competition gets underway and the knockout stage cannot get a better start than the epic showdown between Manchester City and Barcelona. With nothing much to separate these two teams, spectators around the world will be hoping to witness a lip-smacking heavyweight contest at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City would hope to win at home against the Catalans as they would like to continue their imperious goal-scoring form at home. But City will be without the services of their best player of this season, Sergio Aguero who misses out with a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Barcelona would fancy their chances as Lionel Messi has finally returned to form and Neymar has made a comeback after his month long absence due to injury.
The night’s other match is between Bayer Leverkusen and Paris St. Germain at Bay Arena, Germany. Paris St. Germain will definitely start off as the favorites to march on to the next round but it would be too early to write off the German side; more so because PSG will be without 20-goal Edinson Cavani, who sits out of the tie with an injury.
