Is Wayne Rooney really worth the blockbuster deal? A Big YES!!!

After months of transfer speculation, it seems Manchester United have finally reached an agreement to retain the services of striker Wayne Rooney The 28-year-old has signed a new contract which will earn him a reported £300,000 per week, making him the highest paid player in the history of the Premier League.
The signing of this blockbuster deal has led to many speculations like, “is Rooney worth that kind of money?” earning £300,000 a week? The answer to this is simply “YES”.
Manchester United are one of the largest clubs in the world and Rooney has been their best player for years now. He started his career with ManU in 2004 and has seen all the ups and down, the transfers happening at the club & has still managed to keep his playing style unchanged even in these changing situations. United fans would not want to think what position their club would be in the league table had Rooney not been part of the squad this year.
This season for ManU has been a really challenging one. The club was not able to add any creative player in its squad in the beginning especially in the midfield & had witnessed persistent injuries to their squad’s key players like Michael Carrick and Robin Van Persie. During those times of club’s glaring deficiencies and poor team performances, game by game, Rooney was able to keep United in striking distance of the top four (until recent weeks). He was called on to be a “man of all trades” by United’s manager.
Rooney with his unique abilities to cover each inch of the ground has been instrumental in not only in spearheading its attack but also supporting United’s defense. Rooney has consistently played with a ferocious passion and youthful enthusiasm which United’s supporters have come to expect from him over the years. Perhaps there is no individual in United’s dressing room who better understands or symbolizes what David Moyes wants from his players than Wayne Rooney. The relation between Rooney & his manager seems to be have picked up from where it left off while in Everton & the new manager has hinted that Rooney will soon assume the club’s captaincy. The manager strongly believes that Wayne has the ability to be a captain. Rooney’s footballing qualities and his ability to drive his teammates to higher performance levels make him irreplaceable at the club.
The stay of Rooney might help ManU in other way too. Rooney’s long term presence along with Juan Mata can let potential transfer targets know that United are still challenging for domestic and European success in the years to come. Moreover we can see it as a gain for ManU in financial terms if we thoroughly analyze the situation.  We may feel that the £85m agreement up to 2019 looks exorbitant, it’s probably cheaper than United having to find a replacement in the transfer market and pay his wages. The total cost would have probably been much higher. This leaves United free to spend their money elsewhere - with midfield and defense arguably a greater priority.
So, is the best player and future captain of Manchester United (one of the biggest clubs in the world) worth £300k a week? Once again, the answer is: "Yes."
