UEFA Champions League: Manchester United faces Olympiakos, Dortmund up against Zenit
The First leg of Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League resumes tonight with Manchester United away against Greek champions Olympiakos and last season’s finalists Borussia Dortmund are away at Zenit St. Petersburg.
Nothing seems to go right for David Moyes’ Manchester United this season in the Premier League and were not quite convincing even in the Champions League group stages. The defending English champions are 11 points off the last Champions League place with only 11 games still to play. Hence with a return to Champions League next season highly unlikely, the only way to play in the Champions League next season is bu winning the Champions League this time. But for that to happen they need to first overcome the Greek champions who are not going to be pushovers and can spring a surprise or two.
Like United, Borussia Dortmund are also having an indifferent season in the Bundesliga, currently in third place but 20 points behind arch rivals Bayern Munich and they would be concentrating to do well in the Champions League. But it won’t be easy for the Germans against the Russians at a very partisan stadium.
