Asia Cup 2014- India v Pakistan, 2nd March: Match Preview

The stage is set, and excitement is in the air for the showdown on 2nd of March 2014. There is a new twist in the Asia Cup 2014. With Bangladesh virtually out of the tournament after suffering a loss to Afghanistan on 1st March 2014, everything comes down to the most important and the most-awaited match of the tournament. It’s going to be an encounter between the Men in Blue and the Men in Green on 2nd March 2014, and the stakes couldn’t be higher for this particular game.

Like Always, this India v/s Pakistan match is not going to be less than a war. And as has been the case throughout these years, this match will also be a contest between Team India’s batsmen and Pakistan’s bowlers. The last meeting between these two sides in the Asia Cup was in 2012, and though Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Hafeez did try to seal the deal for Pakistan, the show was completely taken over by the rising superstar of the Indian Cricket Team- Virat Kohli. The right-handed batsman from Delhi hammered the Pakistani bowlers all around the park, and blasted his way to a magnificent 183, which took the match away from Pakistan.

The situation is very different this time. Both the teams have undergone some changes since the last Asia Cup. While the Indian Cricket Team is missing out on the advantage of having an experienced captain to lead the side, the Pakistan Cricket Team is full of young and emerging players who are still getting used to the feel of International Cricket. Both the sides are under pressure, as both of them have already lost a match each to the Sri Lankan Cricket Team. Both the teams have not performed to their full potential so far in the tournament, and the level of inexperience is quite high in both the teams.

But, the fact that Team India has won only 1 out of their last 9 ODIs can bring them down on confidence, and Pakistan could be having a psychological upper hand when they step on the field on the afternoon of 2nd March.

But, all these factors cannot deny the fact that the 6th match of the Asia Cup 2014 is surely going to be an exciting one, and that the teams are going to give their 100% to live up to the expectations of the fans, and maintain the standards of one of the greatest cricket rivalries.

Get ready for some nervous starts, thick outside edges, power-hitting, continuous lbw appeals, and a lot more, as this one promises to be an epic game of cricket between the two giants of the cricketing world.
