LIVERPOOL FC VS MAN CITY: THE TITLE DECIDER
The entire world awaits the clash of titans “Liverpool FC vs. Manchester city”, as the clash would play a major role in determining the destiny of the title. If Liverpool wins, it would give them a 7-point lead over city which has two games in hand. This means that even if they win both of their in-hand games, they won’t be able to win the title if Liverpool wins the rest of their games which includes a home game against Mourinho’s men. On the other hand, if City wins, it would be just a point behind the reds with two games in hand. It still would have 6 fixtures including a tricky away fixture against Everton which recently busted arsenal 3-0 at Goodison Park.
Even though strategic Mourinho might have admitted that his team is out of the title race but the entire football community sees it as one more of his so called “mind-games”. A win this week and a draw between Liverpool and city would bring them right back into the title hunt. With a 2-0 victory over PSG this week which saw them steaming into the champions league semifinals, the world indubitably knows what Mourinho is capable off.
The match would be all about Liverpool’s attack vs City’s defense. Having scored 90 goals altogether this season by Liverpool, all eyes would be on the SAS strike force that has 48 goals between them. City has the best goal difference of all the teams and would be all determined to stop the Liverpool strike force at any cost. City would be boosted by the return of their star studded striker Sergio Aguero. Aguero has not played a competitive game for a month and it remains to be seen how significant a role he will have at Anfield. "We know that it is crucial. We know we must go to Anfield and try to win the game," Zabaleta said. "Every single game from now until the end of the season is going to be a final but we know Liverpool is one of the teams fighting for the title race, so we need to win.
As we all know, football is a game of momentum and Liverpool has a great advantage of playing at their home ground. The Liverpool fans, popularly known as “The Kop”, would be eagerly waiting to cheer the reds to a 10th successive victory. The ticket prices have reached a record high of $3500 i.e. INR 2,00,000 which symbolizes the importance of this epic clash.
This clash has all the takings to go down in the history books and for both the teams it is by no means going to be a walk in the park. The million dollar question would be which of the two can handle the pressure and who has the nerves of steel to pull it off at the crucial stage. At the end it all depends on “Who wants it more”. Will Liverpool have their 10th successive victory or will it be City walking away like true champions.
