Question.

The Premier League’s Finest

The Premier League’s Finest

Its that time of the season again, when players, fans and managers alike all sit down and take a look at the entire season with an almost childish delight to decide who’s been the very best at the summit of the league.

          Luis Suarez – Wayne Rooney

Eden Hazard – Aaron Ramsey– Adam Lallana

        Yaya Toure – Phillipe Coutinho

Leighton Baines – John Terry – Vincent Kompany – Cesar Azpilicueta

                De Gea

Manager – Brendan Rodgers

Here is my team. There will always be players who will feel harshly left out, some with very good arguments and others with not so good arguments as to why they belong there, but I feel that over the season, these 12 men have been the Premier League’s best– by the finest margins of course.

Luis Suarez

Despite missing the first 5 games of the season, 30 goals in 30 games and so many more on the post or tipped by brilliant keepers still don’t tell the full story of how he’s run the Premier League this season. His 4-brilliant goal haul against Norwich said it all. Simply stunning.

Wayne Rooney

Despite his team struggling this season, Wayne Rooney’s midfield and attacking contributions have been a shining light in United’s season, and he surely must take the plaudits for his 15 goals and 10 assists.

Eden Hazard

At times, the 23-year old has been Chelsea’s only attacking threat, and it surely isn’t one to be trifled with. As Pablo Zabaleta can attest, the Chelsea winger has been a terrifying force of nature, dribbling through massed defences, assisting is teammates and even tracking back and keeping Mourinho’s team tight. His double nomination for Young Player of the Year and the senior version are a testament to his amazing football. 14 goals and 7 assists.

Aaron Ramsey

Despite sustaining a season-damaging injury, Aaron Ramsey has lit the footballing world with his virtuoso attacking displays and incisive runs in a dashing Arsenal midfield that completely collapsed in his absence.  9 goals and 8 assists.

Adam Lallana

The young Englishman has really made a name for himself this season, with his 9 goals and 6 assists being the catalysts to Southampton’s splendid high-pressing football this season. He’s thrived at a young age in a strong team, and would be a terrific force for England at the World Cup.

Yaya Toure

18 goals and 5 assists tell the story of the well-built midfielder’s incredible midfield dominance Fernandinho at the heart of the invincible Etihad unit. He’s been one of the world’s best this season.

Phillipe Coutinho

5 goals and 7 assists are a bonus to the host of attacking contributions made by the young Brazilian who’s been at the heart of everything good done by the splendid Liverpool outfit. He surely deserves a World Cup spot, and might win his first Premier League title this season.

Leighton Baines

Free-kicks, penalties, slicing runs – what can this left-back not do? Having stolen Ashley Cole’s World Cup place, Leighton Baines has sundered all and any before him and who’ve come at him with his most mature, speedy displays.

John Terry

After being ostracized by Rafael Benitez last season, the now-injured Chelsea captain has once again shown the world why he is probably one of the best that England have ever seen. His vision, attentiveness, tenacity and unparalleled aerial ability have been combined with an almost Xavi-like passing ability to make him the world’s best this season.

Vincent Kompany

Not one to be outshone, Vincent Kompany has been the rock behind his team’s dominance and City have looked such a vulnerable outfit when their best player has been absent. Despite all their attacking flair, it is him and him alone who looks like a true champion and he has even managed to lock down Lionel Messi alone this season.

Cesar Azpilicueta

The right-back who removed the world’s best left-back from his position has gone from strength to strength under Jose Mourinho this season, and has become just as indispensable as the man whose position he took. His graft, tenacity and all-or-nothing attitude have been a key part of Chelsea’s miserly 26 goals conceded this season.

David De Gea

The only other good Manchester United player this season, the Spiderman has been as fantastic, brave and mature as ever, and he’ll be very disappointed at the poor goals his defence have exposed him for. If it were up to him alone, United may have been challenging for trophies this season.

Brendan Rodgers

His Liverpool team are one of the finest attacking sides the Premier League has seen since Carlo Ancelotti, and they are well on course to breaking his record. From 7th to 1st, Rodgers has lead his team to an unbelievable season and he surely deserves to win the title with 3 games remaining.
