Champions League Semi-final 2nd leg: Real Madrid's counter attack v/s Bayern's possession dominance
Real Madrid visit Bayern Munich for tonight’s blockbuster semi-final 2nd leg. With a slender 1-0 lead from the first leg, the Galacticos are vying for a return to the Champions League final for the first time in 12 years. The nine time champions are desperate to end their long wait for the tenth title and having fallen at the semi-final stage in each of the last three seasons, they would be giving their all to reach the finals.
But they will wary of the obstacle in the form of the defending champions Bayern Munich who have been in almost invincible form for much of the campaign under Pep Guardiola. However, there is good news for Real as Gareth Bale has been declared fit to play tonight and the fearsome attacking trio of Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema are all expected to start. Cristiano Ronaldo is on 14 goals in the Champions League this season and one more goal would allow him to set a new all-time season goals record in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich were ridiculed by former players and the press alike after their defeat at Madrid for their toothless possession game but nevertheless, one would write off the Bavarians only to their own peril. So tonight again, we would be witnessing another engrossing battle of Real’s lethal counter-attack against Bayern’s relentless possession dominance.
