ROBERTO MARTINEZ SHOULD AIM FOR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NEXT SEASON
Roberto Martinez should certainly aim for a champion’s league spot in the next season around after having a great inaugural season with the toffees. Unlike other financial power houses of the premier league, Everton gives its coaches time to understand the club and deliver the best possible results. Roberto is just the 14th manager at Everton and he would be aiming to qualify for the champion’s league after a wait of 10 long years. His first season has already amassed the club’s best point tally for 27 years.
If Everton is dreaming of a champions league finish in the next season around, it has to be one of the best seasons it ever had in some time. In the toughest league of the world where surprises happen every weekend, they would have to be consistent throughout the season. The Giants of the premier league would be no easy targets for a champion’s league spot. Their mighty neighbours will be back for the title next season around and Brendan Rodgers has already started the transfer work to complete the title charge which he left behind the last season. Manchester City and Manuel Pellegrini would be totally determined to achieve the club’s first double of premier league titles. Jose mourinho would certainly buy a couple of world class strikers which he was bemoaning the last season and the world knows that Jose does not require too many opportunities to prove himself. Arsenal tasted success with the FA cup last night and ended its trophy drought of 9 years. It had his own injury woes and Arsenal would certainly invest to be the lethal Gunners which it used to be in the past. And last but not the least, the red devils under its new coach would be hoping and trying to be the colossal power it were under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The major challenge for Roberto Martinez would be to handle both Europa league and Premier League at the same time. The players should stay mentally and physically fit for both the tasks. Roberto would not be having the finances to grab hold of quality stuff during the transfer period, instead he would be investing all his energy to get players on loan like Romero Lukaku. He should try his level best to keep hold of his star kid Ross Barkley and keep him focused on the game.
Roberto Martinez would be well wary of the strengths of his opponents and he knows that he cannot write off anyone of the above mentioned superpowers. He would have to pave his own way and built a squad that can handle pressure when it comes to the big games. It would have to take a single game at a time. During last season, it wasted a golden opportunity of finishing in the champions league spot after thrashing arsenal at Goodison Park. It had the destiny in their hands but they tumbled just like their rival neighbours. This time around the players should have the nerves of steel to handle the pressure and deliver when the situation demands.
Can he be the man for the toffees to land champions league the next season around. It is a huge task on hand but certainly not impossible. Atletico’s league title proves the fact that money can’t buy you trophies, it’s the passion and spirit that takes you all the way. Do toffees have the spirit to make it happen?
