Colombia vs Greece: Greece outclassed by clinical Colombians
Columbia announced themselves after 16 years away from the World Cup with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Greece. Colombia, without their talisman Radamel Falcao who could not make it to the World Cup due to injury, started brightly and were ahead with the match just 6 minutes old when left-back Pablo Armero shot was deflected into the Greek goal.
Greece tried hard to score an equalizing goal but were limited to a few opportunities by a very organized Colombian defence. On the other hand, Teofilo Gutierrez scored from a corner to make sure the win and there was time for the brilliant James Rodriguez to score a third to put gloss on the final result.
Colombia’s next match is against Ivory Coast while Greece take on Japan in what might become a must-win situation for the Greeks.
