LIVERPOOL WILL STRUGGLE WITHOUT SUAREZ
Liverpool might have sold the No 1 enemy of football to the Catalan Giants but it has left them at the starting point once again. Brendan Rodgers had built a young strong team around Luiz Suarez who was exceptional in the dream run Liverpool had last season. Without Luiz, life is certainly going to be tough for the Reds. The going is certainly going to be tougher this time around as their rivals have become stronger leaving a gigantic mountain to climb for the Reds. The departure of Luis Suarez has left a huge void in the Liverpool side that narrowly missed out on winning their first league title in 24 years last season. It is not only Suarez’s goals that will be missed – 31 in all competitions – it is the talismanic qualities the Uruguayan held at Anfield. Suarez was not only the best striker in European football last season, his very presence in the side lifted those around him.
Liverpool might have a hell load of money to spend but getting hold of the right players is what is more important. The Reds have already made signings worth 60 million and are to swoop more players before the close of the transfer window. The four signings have been Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic. With Lallana and Markovic, Liverpool has certainly added more attacking options but can these players fill the huge empty void created by Luiz Suarez is the biggest question on the lips of the fans. Besides that, the team should have one star player which everyone will be able to look up to at the most dire of moments. Eden Hazard does a wonderful job at Chelsea and always proves to be the game-winner and Yaya Toure always comes up with great performances which lead to victories. Liverpool had a man like that too, but now he has left for Barcelona and leaves a huge hole in the team. Being a Liverpool fan, I hope that all the young players can step up to the plate and show what they can do and that the new players brought in can live up to expectations and bring back glory to one of the most successful clubs in world football.
His loss will be acutely felt and many expect Liverpool to struggle to replicate their title challenge without him. It can take teams a while to recover from such a high profile departure, but not every side falters after selling their star player. Arsenal have persistently shown they can cope with losing key figures, but their lack of title success should serve as a warning to all Liverpool fans this summer. If Liverpool use the money they have received wisely, Brendan Rodgers could have deeper squad this season than is far more suited to balancing the demands of playing in the Champions League while maintaining domestic ambitions. Whether he can win the title without Suarez, though, looks extremely doubtful.
