Matchday 1 continues as Bayern faces Manchester City, Chelsea up against Schalke and Barca faces a Cyprus test
The Matchday One of the Group Stages continues tonight with plenty of big matches coming up. Last night was an entertaining affair of football with the usual suspects Real Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund all coming out with impressive victories while there were a couple of surprising results as Atletico Madrid were stunned by Olympiakos while Benfica were overpowered at home by Zenit St. Petersburg.
Tonight, Group E will see Bayern Munich resume their rivalry against Manchester City in what would be the 3rd time in 4 seasons that both the teams are paired in the same group. Bayern will be without several key players but even then Pep Guardiola’s team have enough firepower to dismantle the English champions. The other group match will see AS Roma take on CSKA Moscow.
In Group F, Barcelona starts off their campaign at home against Cyprus minnows APOEL in what seems to be a gigantic mismatch but Barca would not dare to underestimate their unfancied opponents. In the other game in Group F, Ajax will welcome mega-rich PSG in the Amsterdam Arena.
Chelsea will take on Schalke at home in Group G and Jose Mourinho would like his team to continue their dream start to the new season against their plucky German opponents. In the other match of the group, Slovenian outfit NK Maribor will play against Sporting CP of Portugal.
In Group H, Athletic Bilbao will play their first Champions League Group Match since 1998 as they face Shakhtar Donetsk while the matchday one would be rounded off by Porto’s match against BATE Borisov.
